TESOL Course in New York, USA
Why
TESOL Course in New York, USA?
The "Big Apple," and the "City That Never Sleeps"— are some of the
superlatives used for New York. The city seems to pull in the best and
the brightest from every corner of the country. The
TESOL course from
TEFL International thus set in New York also entices existing and
prospective ESL teachers from all over the world for a globally
recognized TEFL certification program.
New York is a state in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeastern regions of the
United States of America. With 62 counties, it is the country's third
most populous state. Giovanni da Verrazano, an Italian-born navigator
sailing for France, discovered New York Bay in 1524. The great
metropolis and the training centre for the international
TESOL
certification program - New York City is the nerve center of the nation.
It is a leader in manufacturing, foreign trade, commerce and banking,
book and magazine publishing, and theatrical production. A leading
seaport, its John F. Kennedy International Airport is one of the busiest
airports in the world. New York is also home to the New York Stock
Exchange, the largest in the world.
From museum exhibitions to Broadway shows, street festivals to musical
events, New York City is defined by a sense of dynamism, vitality and
possibility that together amount to a simple truth: no two days here are
alike, and every day holds the opportunity to see and do something new.
And, this dynamism and taste of variety makes the city more suitable for
the globally accredited TEFL course that provides the
ESL teachers with
unique teaching techniques and classroom exposure.
What is the attraction in New York?
Visitors and TEFL trainees who love the outdoors can enjoy film
festivals, music, parks, gardens and beaches throughout the five
boroughs. Baseball lovers and tennis fans can cheer at the U.S. Open
tournament in Queens. Having fun may also include food festivals, crafts
fairs, street fairs and more. New York City bursts with blockbuster
exhibits, world-class music and Broadway shows, not to mention great
sightseeing, shopping and special events. Therefore, out of the
TESOL
class, on weekends, TEFL trainees can hardly fall short of entertainment
options.
Get a head start on your holiday gift-giving. New York City offers
wonderful shopping experiences from world renowned department stores to
craft fairs to unique boutiques—there is something, for everyone on your
list, to be carried back as a memento from the TESOL trip.
Experience the magic of a New York City winter. See the towering tree in
Rockefeller Center, the world’s largest menorah on Central Park South.
New York City marks the return of championship baseball to Yankee and
Shea stadiums. The parks and botanical gardens in every borough are in
bloom during spring. Daffodils and azaleas crowd Central Park, tulips
parade up Park Avenue’s center mall, and there are glorious flower shows
such as Macy’s Flower Show, Brooklyn Botanic Gardens’ Cherry Blossom
Festival and the Greater New York Orchid Show.
If you love a parade, NY has them: uptown, downtown, all around town and
for all occasions: St. Patrick’s Day, Easter, Greek Independence Day,
Cuban Day, Salute to Israel and Puerto Rican Day, to name a few. Thus,
while you parade your way to a blooming ESL career and get the drive
from the TESOL certification program, let New York be your inspiration.
What is in New York for you?
Just walking around you can feel the energy that infuses the streets. A
visit to the museums and galleries should feature on your list of things
to do and without a doubt one would enjoy Broadway shows. Shopping for
designer fashions or seeking out a rare find can be an experience by
itself. You can also dine in award-winning restaurants or savor ethnic
cuisines at neighborhood eateries. For those TEFL trainees who have
penchant for fine dining, New York proves to be a treasure trove.
NY is a quintessential city life experience. From entertainment to art
exhibitions, from Museum visits to designer wear shopping, fine dining
to street food, soothing parks to hectic nightlife NY has something for
everyone. You may have shopped at other Saks stores in other cities, but
this is the actual store on Fifth Avenue. The master craftsmanship of
Tuscan artisans has a home on Fifth Avenue - Gucci. This location is
like a temple to the Italian luxury goods maker.
On the tourist map
The must see places of New York have become American landmarks. The
weekends that punctuate the four weeks of rigorous
TESOL training can be
utilized by the TEFL trainees in making rounds of these must see places.
For the many immigrants that flocked from Europe to New York, the Statue
of Liberty was the first image they saw of the USA. The statue was a
gift from the French government for the 100th birthday of America's
Independence.
The Empire State building is probably New York's best known building and
is prominent on many postcards. More than any other building in the
world, the Empire State Building represents the ambition of humans to
build towers that reach for the skies.
Central Park is one of those places that make New York such a great
place to live. The huge park, 843 acres large, is located in the center
of Manhattan. Its design is an example for city parks around the world.
The Brooklyn Bridge, built between 1869 and 1883, connects Manhattan
with New York's most populous borough, Brooklyn. The bridge is one of
the most magnificent landmarks in New York.
Times Square, the most bustling square of New York is known for its many
Broadway theatres, cinemas and super signs. It is one of those places
that make New York a city that never sleeps.
The headquarters of the U.N. in New York were developed by an
international team of architects. The main building, the Secretariat,
was one of the city's first towers in International Style.
Madison Square, located in the Flatiron district, is one of the
historically most important squares in New York City. The attractive
19th century Madison Square Park is surrounded by historic landmarks
from the Gilded Age, including the famous Flatiron building and the
classical MetLife tower.
New York City’s Fifth Avenue is a shopping district unrivaled by the
likes of London’s Knightsbridge section or Chicago’s Magnificent Mile.
The approximately 10-block stretch of this Big Apple Avenue – from 49th
to 59th Street – is covered with stores representing some of the world’s
most magnificent designers.
All the destinations mentioned above can be ideal as welcome break from
the ESL lessons and the
TEFL classroom.
Evening and night life in New York

dark glasses, and the legendary DJs who can change your life in a single
night -- it's all right here! You can go to dance, to party, to see it
all, and to be seen. New work guarantees the experience of a life time
the way TESOL guarantees a flourishing
ESL career to its
TEFL trainees.

Ellington to Alicia Keys, Rodney Dangerfield to Dave Chapelle, or John
Lennon to Jay-Z -- the greatest names in entertainment have honed their
skills in this great city. You can hear live music and stand-up comedy,
and witness a legend in the making!
Weekend activities
For the TEFL certificate seekers, there is plenty to see and do in New
York and you will never have a dull moment.
Did you know you could surf in New York City? Yes, it has beaches and
the water’s beautiful. Coney Island in addition to a beach, has a famous
boardwalk with rides and games of chance, the Cyclone roller coaster, a
sideshow, museum, flea markets, the beautiful new Brooklyn Cyclones
stadium, the fantastic New York Aquarium and special events like June’s
Mermaid Parade and the summer Siren Festival.
Gateway National Recreation Area has fantastic beaches, old military
forts and wildlife which are a big draw to this unexpectedly diverse
park with an assortment of activities from beachcombing to aviation
history. Gateway National Recreation Area protects wilderness along the
city's south shore, combining native wildlife, public beaches and
historic structures. There is seasonal ferry service (to be expanded)
from Manhattan to Gateway’s Sandy Hook Unit in New Jersey.
Central Park, Manhattan’s famed green oasis, is only number five on the
list of the city’s ten largest parks. There are more than 750 different
native species of animals and plants throughout the five boroughs,
including the endangered peregrine falcon, the sharp-shinned hawk and
white-tailed deer.
Central Park and the New York Botanical Garden, located in the Bronx,
offer guided bird walks, and spring in Queens brings thousands of
migrating shore birds to the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge’s 10,000 acres.
You're invited to join New Yorkers who jog, walk, bike, in-line skate,
horseback ride, ice skate, rent row boats, play basketball, softball,
soccer, tennis and enjoy special events and festivals, in the city’s
more than 1,700 parks and playgrounds.
The Hudson River Park, which runs along the shoreline of the Hudson
River from 14th Street to the southern tip of Manhattan, is the perfect
place for a walk, jog or bike ride. This beautifully landscaped
greenbelt has wonderful views of the river, skyline and Statue of
Liberty.
As you stand in the middle of Times Square or gaze up boutique-filled
Madison Avenue or Bleecker Street, it can be easy to forget that
Manhattan is an island. As a matter of fact, only one of New York City’s
five boroughs is not an island (the Bronx). The best views of the city
are from the water; nothing is more romantic than a sunset cruise.

prevailing wind patterns that bring cool air from the interior of the
North American continent. New York winters are typically cold with
moderate snowfall. So one should dress accordingly to keep warm. The
city's coastal position keeps temperatures relatively warmer than inland
regions. April, May, and November are typically the months with greatest
precipitation. Spring and Fall in New York City are mild, while summer

recorded from 18 to 25 days on average during the season.
